Visaton SUB T-30.60, Subwoofer Kit using the Visaton TIW300.
The SUB T-30.60 has been developed as a support for high-performance systems. The TIW 300 - 8 Ohm woofer used here with its large, multi-vented voice coil, is of a design which enables it to work at high output levels and still maintain clear, precise sound. In the recommended cabinet, it manages a very impressive sound pressure of 89 dB (1 W/1 m) at 30 Hz lower limiting frequency.
The recommended cabinet has 60 litres net volume and is still compact enough to integrate easily in most living rooms. The large-format bass reflex tube effectively suppresses flow losses and flow noise. To guarantee the rigidity of the cabinet, the floor and front panel are double and with additional strengthening struts.
Assembly
The cabinet consists of 19 mm thick, butt-glued boards and a 16 mm thick baffle (outer front). First, the necessary cutouts are sawn into the baffle and the baffle, and the bevels are applied.
Assembly begins with one side panel. The front and rear panels, the lid, and the tunnel board are attached to this. The stiffeners are then installed, followed by the second side panel. The cabinet is then placed on the lid and the sides for the bass tunnel are glued in place. The two base panels are then installed. The prepared outer front panel can then be glued on. The rounded edges on the bass reflex port opening are intended to reduce airflow noise at higher levels.
If an amplifier module is used, the necessary cutout for installation is sawn into the rear panel. If no active module is used, an RPT15GCS connection terminal is installed in the rear panel.
Depending on the design of the amplifier module, it may be necessary to provide a spatial separation between the speaker volume and the amplifier module within the enclosure. In this case, the enclosure must be enlarged to maintain the proposed woofer volume.
Inner Damping
The enclosure is loosely damped with six mats of damping material, leaving the area behind the bass reflex tunnel free.
